Northern Lights, also known simply as NL, is a well-known cannabis strain. It is a pure indica strain that was refined and popularized in the Netherlands after its genetics originated in the Pacific Northwest. Descended from a cross between Afghani and Thai landrace varieties, its genetic lineage has been used to breed hybrids like Shiva Skunk and Super Silver Haze. The aroma of Northern Lights is characteristically profile-heavy, featuring a blend of damp earth, pine, and woody herbs, accented by notes of citrus and subtle spice on the exhale. Visually, the cultivar yields dense buds that are coated in crystal trichomes and sometimes exhibit purple undertones. The reported effects include a combination of cerebral euphoria and a distinct body sensation. Because it is associated with physical relaxation and sedation, it is typically categorized for evening and nighttime use
